He prepares the hearts with wine and makes them more ready for passion: thoughts fade away; in the much wine all pain is tempered.

Among wines, the one harvested in a benign soil is more substantial than the one harvested in a light soil; the one from a temperate climate is more substantial than the one harvested in a damp place, or too dry, too cold, or too hot.
